West Melton Rugby Football Club
The West Melton Rugby Football Club is a great place for juniors, school leavers and seniors looking to play rugby at a club level. Situated in West Melton, approximately 20km South West of Christchurch. West Melton RFC is a country rugby club competing in the Ellesmere Rugby Sub Union Tournament.
Senior Teams preseason training has commenced - sessions are on Tuesday 7:30pm and Saturdays 11:00am at the West Melton Reserve. From the 16th of February we will be including a Thursday night session also starting at 7:30pm.
There will be an internal trial including players wishing to play Colts, Division 2 and Division 1. This trial will be held on the 3rd of March commencing at 1:30p.m.
On the 11th of March the Senior teams (U18s, Colts, Division 2 and Division 1 squads) will convene at the Club at 12:30pm for a BBQ and training session. Pre-season games for all the Senior teams have been arranged, further details on these are available from the respective coaches.

Junior Teams registration is on Wednesday 15th and Sunday 19th of February between 4pm and 6pm at the West Melton Clubrooms.
West Melton RFC caters for a large area with players coming from a wide proximity including Christchurch City, all wanting to experience Country Rugby at its best. All players have the opportunity to get selected for Ellesmere and Canterbury Country Rep teams. This is a great opportunity for exposure at a higher level. West Melton RFC celebrated its 25th birthday in the year 1999.
West Melton RFC is a most innovative and progressive club, catering for all rugby players, including aspiring All Blacks, genuine club rugby players and social players. In the summer season, West Melton RFC operates a successful Touch module on a Tuesday evening.
West Melton RFC has set some firm strategic goals and key amongst these is the resolve to further develop its player base at junior competitive grades from Under7’s to Colts, then onward to a strong Division 2 Team. We believe that only by achieving this, will we be able to maintain the momentum created by our very successful Division 1 Senior team.
We are a family oriented club, and value any form of participation from anyone keen to join in. We ask everyone to be mindful of children in the carpark and surrounding buildings. Please also refrain from taking any drinks from the bar on to the grounds. Respect for referees and visiting teams is something we consider important to maintain.
